Wood fences - from picket to privacy

Wood fences, whether made of Western red cedar, cypress, or treated pine, combine the natural beauty of the wood and a sturdiness that only Mother Nature can provide. Maintained properly, wood fences can endure the harshest weather and provide you with several years of serviceability.

Beeson wood fences are built to last. We build each gate with cedar back rails because cedar doesn't warp; that way, your gate will always open and close properly. All gates - even walk-throughs - are secured with a 6" x 6" hinge post; the industry standard is only 4" x 4".

Our wood fences come in a variety of styles. Just click on a link below to learn more about each style and to see an example photo:

Privacy fences perform double duty - not only do they secure the perimeter of your back yard, but they also act as a privacy and wind screen for your property. These types of fences can be built to heights as high as 8 feet tall, and come in a variety of patterns, from a shadowbox with dog-eared boards to an arched or scalloped look.

Picket fences

Known primarily as a pretty front yard enclosure, many homeowners are discovering the financial benefit of utilizing a picket fence in the back yard too. Picket fences are usually shorter than privacy fences, and have evenly spaced 1½ " gaps between the boards.

Most picket fences are built to a height of 4 feet, although we can also make one 3 or 5 feet tall to suit your needs. Picket fences are best used in situations where a small child or pet needs to stay close at hand.

Split rail fences

Split rail fences are as beautiful as they are historically significant - they were the most popular kind of farm fence at the turn of the last century before sawmills became commonplace. Abraham Lincoln supposedly split rails for a living before he became a lawyer and got involved in politics.

These types of fences can be built with either two or three rails, and can be enhanced with the addition of either barb, hog, or chicken wire if desired.

Similar to split rail fences, wooden post and rail fences boast 2, 3, or 4 sawed boards to act as rails between the fence posts, and are commonly seen on farms or large country lawns.

Wire can also be added to these fences.
